In short: Homespun does not collect, sell, or share your data. The app has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking. Your photos and videos stay on your iPhone or go to a server that you run. The developer of Homespun never receives them.
Your photo library
With your permission, the Homespun app reads the photos and videos you choose and saves compact copies to an album named "Homespun" in your library. It never changes your originals. It asks iOS to delete an original only when you choose to, and only after your server has proven it holds an identical copy. iOS asks you to confirm every deletion, and deleted items stay in Recently Deleted.
On-phone mode
When Homespun compresses on your iPhone, all processing happens on the device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Your own server
If you connect Homespun to a server you run, such as Homespun Server or an Immich server, the app sends your originals to that server (or lets it find them in your Immich library) and downloads compact copies from it. The server's address and the pairing token it issues are stored on your iPhone (the token in the Keychain) and used only to talk to your server. An Immich API key, if you use one, stays on your server. The developer of Homespun has no access to your server or its contents.
